Merrick Texas Toothpicks from Chewy.com

Duke: GimmeGimmeGimme.   Maggie: What is that? I want it now!
Chewy.com sent us a package of Merrick Texas Toothpicks Dog Treats to review & they were a huge hit!
It was hard to get Duke to sit still to get a clear picture at first.

Duke: Is this good eye contact?   Maggie: I'm making eye contact with the treats.
Duke broke out his Mr. Romance face to get a treat, while Maggie couldn't stop staring at the bag.

Duke: Can't sit still!  Maggie: Maybe I can hypnotize her into dropping one.
Once the bag was opened the dogs were obsessed. The treats had a definite rawhide scent, and a natural, unbleached color. The puffed texture made them very light weight and easy for the dogs to chew.

Hmm, crunchy & chewy...yummy...
The Texas Toothpicks have one ingredient, Beef Tail, which is great for dogs like Maggie that have allergies and are on a limited ingredient diet. They're USA made, grain free treats that the dogs loved.

Looks like a carrot, tastes much better.
The treats are a little creepy as they're shaped like fingers and about the same size. They might not be a good idea for dogs that tend to be nippy or grab for treats, but they were fine for the punks.

Can a dog eat his treats in peace? Enough with the paparazzi.

A Texas Toothpick lasted about 3 minutes per dog, tops. The bag sells for  $19.99 at Chewy.com and there are about 20 in a bag. At $1.00 a treat, they might be a good value if your dog doesn't chew them up as fast as ours do! Overall they were a 4 out of 5.
Maggie & Duke are 45 pound power chewers, so the treats would probably last longer with smaller or more normal dogs. (If your dogs can destroy an Extreme Kong in 15 minutes, these treats should last 3 minutes for you. :)

  1. Wow, they really DO look like fingers. Maggie and Duke sure do seem to enjoy them, though! Glad they are made in the USA.

  7. Your last paragraph answered all the questions I had about them. I've been wanting to try them but wondered about their size and how long would they last. Thank you so much!

  9. We LOVE these too! One issue (for the humans) is the gas that follows (from the dogs)! Not enjoyable!
